9 Quick and Easy Serve Ideas For You To Try At Home

Aiming to lift your spirits this bank holiday weekend, we’ve put together some simple serve ideas for you to try at home! Because, well, what better way to cure a little bit of cabin fever than with cocktails?

THE CLASSIC G&T
First up is ‘The Classic G&T’ – because you can never beat a classic, right? Just three simple ingredients to make one lovely serve!

What you’ll need

  • 200ml Lixir Classic Indian or Lixir Refreshingly Light (or try any of our flavoured tonics for a twist on a classic!)
  • 50ml of whatever gin you have in your home
  • Lime

Method

Firstly add a handful of ice to your glass, but don’t worry if you don’t have any, it will still taste great! Next add in a 25ml measure of your chosen gin (a double if you’re feeling cheeky), top with our Classic Indian. Garnish with a lime wedge. Enjoy!

TEQUILA TONIC
Tonic and tequila together in one glass may not be a mainstream serve but wow it’s a good’en! If tequila is your spirit, try it with our Refreshingly Light and add a squeeze of lime or grapefruit… we promise you won’t be disappointed! Or, why not switch it up and mix it with our Blood Orange & Cinnamon?

What you’ll need

  • 200ml Lixir Refreshingly Light (or Lixir Blood Orange & Cinnamon!)
  • 50ml blanco tequila (we recommend El Jimador Blanco Tequila, but any will do!)
  • Grapefruit wedge

Method

Fill a glass with plenty of ice, add in a measure of tequila and top with our Refreshingly Light. Lastly, garnish with grapefruit or any other fruit you can get your hands on. Enjoy!

THE RHUBARB MULE
Next up is our quick and easy twist on the Moscow Mule…

What you’ll need

  • 200ml Lixir Rhubarb & Ginger
  • 50ml vodka
  • Lime

Method

Fill a glass with plenty of ice, add in a measure of vodka (no one’s judging if it’s a double…), top with our Rhubarb & Ginger, squeeze in some lime and garnish with lime also. Enjoy!

RUM & TONIC
Ever thought of mixing rum & tonic before? Well, now is the best time to get experimenting and to try something new! Our range of tonics are designed not just for gin, but for an array of different spirits, and our Blood Orange & Cinnamon and our Rhubarb & Ginger go GREAT with all rums! In fact, the first time we tried this, we had to have another (and another…).

What you’ll need

  • 200ml Lixir Blood Orange & Cinnamon (or Lixir Rhubarb & Ginger!)
  • 50ml of whatever rum you have around the house
  • Orange

Method

Add ice, then your rum, top with our Blood Orange & Cinnamon, garnish with a generous wedge of orange. Enjoy!

WINE SPRITZ
Up next is one for the wine lovers out there! If you have any white wine lying around the house then grab it and let’s get mixing!

What you’ll need

  • 125ml of your favourite white wine OR 25ml citrus vodka and 35ml white wine
  • 200ml Lixir Elderflower & Lemon
  • Mint and grapes (completely optional, tastes great with or without!)

Method

Pour a measure of your favourite white wine into a glass and top with Lixir Elderflower & Lemon for a twist on a ‘Wine Spritz’! Finish it off with some garnish for extra sass, or just ice if you have any! Enjoy!

PIMP MY PIMM’S CUP

Did someone say ‘Pimm’s o’clock’? I believe they did. For a refreshing bank holiday beverage, try this serve!

What you’ll need

  • 50ml Pimm’s No.1
  • 200ml Lixir Elderflower & Lemon
  • Lemon, strawberries, cucumber, mint (or just use whatever fruits you have in your fruit bowl, it’ll still work! However, we wouldn’t recommend bananas)

Method

Grab a glass, add a handful of ice, add in 50ml of Pimm’s and top with Elderflower & Lemon. Slice up some fruit, add it to the glass and stir to mix! Enjoy!

THE GODFATHER PART II
We can’t leave out the whisky drinkers, so here’s a serve for you…

What you’ll need

  • 30ml scotch whisky
  • 20ml amaretto (if you don’t have this then don’t worry!)
  • 200ml Lixir Blood Orange & Cinnamon
  • Orange

Method

Add ice to a glass and pour in 30ml scotch whisky and 20ml Amaretto. If you don’t have any Amaretto then don’t worry, leave it out or add a little bit more whisky. Top with Lixir Blood Orange & Cinnamon whilst stirring gently. Garnish with some orange and you’re good to go! Enjoy!

BRAMBLE SMASH
We know getting to the shops and finding specific ingredients isn’t the easiest during this social-distancing and self-isolation period – so, we’ve had a Lixir team brain-storming session about what simple ingredients people tend to have at the back of their cupboards, that we can mix into a great serve! Frozen berries are something we believed many people may have in their freezer, so we thought we’d do a couple serves with them!

What you’ll need

  • 200ml Lixir Rhubarb & Ginger (or Elderflower & Lemon!)
  • 35ml gin
  • 25ml white wine
  • Handful of fresh or frozen berries (these could be blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or a mix!)
  • Lemon juice (optional)

Method

Pop a handful of fresh or frozen berries into a glass, but make sure you save a few for the garnish. Carefully muddle and squash them with the back of a spoon inside your glass to release their juices. Pour in 25ml gin, 35ml white wine and squeeze in the juice from a lemon wedge. Top with Lixir Elderflower & Lemon and garnish with more berries! Enjoy!

BERRY MOJITO
For our final at-home cocktail idea… we’re serving you up with a lovely berry mojito! Again, use whatever you have in your cupboards for this one!

What you’ll need…

50ml white rum (or just any rum you have lying round)
200ml Lixir Soda Water
15ml sugar syrup (you can make your own at home, read on…)*
Handful of fresh or frozen berries (optional)
Lime
Mint
Method

Add a handful of fresh or frozen berries, 3 wedges of lime and 5-10 mint leaves to a glass and gently squash them with the back of a spoon to release their flavours. Here, berries are optional so choose whether you’d like a classic Mojito, or a fruit one! If you have any ice then pop that into the glass and then add your rum, sugar syrup and stir these ingredients together with a spoon. Top with soda and garnish with a couple more berries. Enjoy!

*You can make your own sugar syrup at home with just two ingredients and two steps. Dissolve 150g caster sugar in 75ml water over a low heat, whilst stirring occasionally. Leave the syrup to cool and bottle up for future use in cocktails. Store it in the fridge.

And that’s it on the serves for now! If you try any of these serves out, make sure you tag us – we love to see it!

Happy mixing.
